A state-of-the-art food grade operation

Located in Auckland, New Zealand, Bonson's state-of-the-art food grade operation houses the latest in injection moulding, thermoforming and in-mould labelling (IML) technology that is capable of creating world class, end-to-end, award winning packaging solutions.

Quality, food safety and operational efficiency are essential to manufacturing packaging for the food industry - Our 6000m2 manufacturing site was purpose-built with this in mind.

Thermoforming

Closing the loop with recycled PET

It starts with a sheet of recycled PET made from post-consumer plastic bottles. Using the well-established thermoforming process, the material is gently heated and moulded into thin-walled packaging products, enhancing the user experience with intricate features such as hinged lids. Thermoforming is a fast, reliable manufacturing process that makes it easy to deliver packaging solutions you can count on.

New Zealand manufacturing

More than ever, consumers are supporting locally made products. Our local operation also means you benefit from reliable quality control whilst mitigating global supply chain challenges.

Recyclable & food-grade

We make our packaging using Polypropylene (plastic number 5) and PET (plastic number 1) - some of the most widely recycled plastics available. We also try our best touse recycled plastics where possible.

Integrated Management Systems

Bonson has continuously maintained external certifications since 2001, including Food Safety, Health & Safety, Environment, and Quality certifications.
Injection moulding

Recyclable rigid PP packaging

Utilising injection moulding, Bonson is capable of producing a high volume with superior quality. During the process, melted plastic is pressed into a custom mould where the container is shaped to your exact specifications, offering highly flexible product design and precision manufacturing. Our Bonson Solutions division features a wide range of packaging solutions that are designed and manufactured here in New Zealand.

Enhance shelf appeal with in-mould labelling (IML)

In-mould labelling (IML) is a superior decoration process where a label is placed in a mould before the plastic container is formed. This process removes the need for an adhesive as the label fuses with the container wall during injection moulding, allowing seamless integration into your manufacturing line.

Utilising IML, our award winning design team can help you create unique customised packaging.

Together we create a healthier world

Minimising our impact on the environment is a key motivator in our decision making. We’re deeply committed to contributing to the circular economy through both our products and our practices.

Environmental sustainability is a significant part of our everyday operations. Our facility has been designed and fitted with the latest Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) principles and is ISO 14001 certified, making Bonson’s operations more energy efficient and environmentally sustainable.
