Ready meal packaging FAQs
For most chilled ready meals, polypropylene (PP) packaging is generally the best all-round option. It provides an excellent balance of food safety, temperature and shelf life performance, cost, and convenience, making it the preferred choice for many manufacturers. Not to mention its acceptance in the New Zealand recycling system.
Our ready meal packaging is manufactured in PP (#5) material. This is recyclable in the New Zealand kerbside collection system. We do encourage avoiding black, as it is currently not recyclable in New Zealand. All other #5 packaging goes on to have another life.
We use PP (#5) for our packaging and this ideal for microwaveable applications due to its ability to handle heat.
